Bans won't save the planet

Cities,counties,countries and at last the European Union have declared war on plastic bags.
It's fairly obvious that this is nothing but a symbolic gesture meeting with the current
political atmosphere,and will do little to nothing to tackle the real issue of global pollution.
No doubt,plastic (among others) represents a threat to the environment and humanity.
Year by year,hundreds of thousands of marine creatures and birds die from plastic debris.
What is worse is that microplastics which are passed through the food chain will
end up on our planets.
According to a study conducted by multiple institutes and universities,there are currently
over five trillion pieces of plastics floating in our oceans.The study also cautioned that this is only about 0.1% of the annual global plastic production.
